BurdyGurdy is a bird identification learning app operated by Three Corner Orchard Technology. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect information you choose to provide by creating an account:

• Email address - used to identify your account and send a confirmation email when you register.
• Quiz progress - your learning history, mastery levels, favourited and excluded birds, and app settings. This data is synced to your account so it is available across your devices.

You can use BurdyGurdy without creating an account. In that case, all data stays on your device and we collect nothing.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To sync your quiz progress and settings across your devices.

We do not use your information for advertising, analytics, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except as necessary to operate the service:

• Supabase - our database and authentication provider. Your email and progress data are stored on Supabase infrastructure. See supabase.com/privacy.

4. Third-Party Data Sources

BurdyGurdy displays content from the following public sources. Your quiz activity is not shared with them:

• eBird / Cornell Lab of Ornithology - species lists and recent sightings
• iNaturalist - bird photos
• Macaulay Library - bird photos
• xeno-canto - bird songs and calls
• Wikipedia / Wikimedia Commons - species information and photos

5. Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account exists. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us (see below).

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data

7. Children's Privacy

BurdyGurdy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
